Question: Should I eat before a workout? See answer below!
Answer: Yes! You need fuel for the workout. Your body needs blood sugar in order to exercise. If there is not enough circulating blood sugar it will break down muscle for fuel. Eat about 45 minutes to 1 hour before the workout. If your stomach is very sensitive to food in it you may need to eat 1.5-2 hours before the workout. Eat 200-300 calories of a combination of carbohydrates and protein.
Examples:
Fruit & yogurt
Pretzels & almond or peanut butter
Rice crackers & Cheese or Daiya vegan cheese
I received no incentive to mention certain brands or products. All opinions expressed are my own from my own experience.
